KINGVALE, Placer County — Caltrans’s August 14, 2026, Sierra construction bulletin documented lane and ramp closures affecting westbound Interstate 80 between Kingvale and Troy Road and eastbound traffic between Troy and Soda Springs.

The agency scheduled the westbound work period for August 17–21, while eastbound closures were also planned during that week. Caltrans warned travelers that delays from multiple projects along the full Interstate 80 corridor could reach as much as two hours under certain traffic conditions.

Those specific August lane-closure dates are now in the past. They illustrate the scope of the continuing Soda Springs pavement rehabilitation project, not an active announcement for November. Drivers should not apply archived dates to their current travel plans.

What residents and travelers should know

For upcoming journeys, consult a fresh Caltrans project bulletin, highway signs and the live QuickMap. Kingvale residents and businesses along I-80 should distinguish scheduled construction-related slowdowns from sudden snow-chain controls or collision closures.
